David Florin

Producer-strategist-technologist. The hyphens aren’t decoration — creative producing, transmedia strategy, media technology. Film, television, video games, graphic novels. I adapt to the environment and match the story to the medium.

David Florin
Currently

Producing independently through Florin Transmedia and finishing a combined BA/MA in Media Studies at The New School. Open to producing work, development roles, and conversations about projects looking for a producer who can also read the deal.

Method

Most people in this business are trained in one lane. I was trained in three.

Craft
3D animation and visual effects at the School of Visual Arts, then producing since 2011 — development through delivery. Screenwriting at NYU and The New School; voice-over and voice acting at PDR, New York. Demo reel and writing samples available upon request.
Strategy
Entertainment industry management, business plans, and producing fundamentals at NYU. Graduate Fellow, Founder Institute NY. Media psychology — audience behavior as a working tool, taught to postgraduates and professionals at the Startup Institute.
Technology
Built a production-logistics software product end to end. Currently in graduate coursework on AI agents, platform design, and critical making at The New School.

Successfully introducing a story to the marketplace requires creativity, strategy, and technical knowledge. There was a time you could hire those separately. Now format, platform and tooling are live questions from the first draft on — which is a good reason to want all three in one person.

Background

My first professional job was teaching: intuitive game design and game modification at a computer camp, hired a year younger than they were supposed to hire. That same summer, at fifteen, I developed and taught what is — as far as anyone can establish — one of the first courses anywhere on how to use YouTube. The Partner Program that turned “YouTuber” into a paying job was still a year away.

From there, undergrad at the School of Visual Arts in 3D animation and visual effects, then into producing at twenty-one, which is where I learned the work end to end — script through delivery. Since then I’ve built a software company, and I invest as an accredited angel, which mostly means I can read a cap table and a term sheet without a translator.

Twenty years on, the industry has changed. The job hasn’t.
